Even after blue-eyed actor Paul Newman passed away, you have to be touched by the fact that the organization he put up still contributed to charity. Newman’s Own Foundation joins the list of organization established by the late Oscar award winner and while he did die last Friday due to lung cancer, his memory will certainly continue to live on.
Newman’s charity, the Newman’s Own Foundation, donated $12 million to more than 700 charities in Australia and New Zealand over 25 years before his death at the weekend.
It will be remembered that Paul Newman is a proven icon in the showbiz industry and since his retirement in May 2007, he has ventured out into building his own businesses, investing in the food industry and this charitable institution, a familiar fixture among celebrities who have pledged part of their life into extending a helping hand to the people in need.
This is a great sign for welcoming the call of charity organizations for help. They are mainly responsible for providing aid towards people in need and apparently Newman made sure that he will do his part even before parting from the real world. It is no longer a matter of being famous or just doing a good deed. Newman has far established that even during his prime existence for his millions of fans all over the world through the years.
It is only normal to feel saddened by these turn of events. But while we all remember Mr. Blue Eyes for his movies, his social responsibility is really something to behold.
